This is an action role-playing game in which players are set in ancient times more than 3,000 years ago and use their swords to fight against the spirit of Emperor Jo of Country Jo, who is trying to annex the world.
Blade & Sword is China's first action RPG, released in multiple countries including China, Japan, the United States, and Russia. It achieved 200,000 authentic copies worldwide and created a milestone for domestic single-player games in the early 21st century. In 2003, it was listed in Gamespot's Top 10 role-playing games for 10 consecutive days and ranked at the top for three days.
This game differs from previous ARPG titles by being an RPG with fighting as the main theme. It integrates fighting game mechanics into the traditional RPG framework. In battle, players can use jabbing, slashing, chopping, jumping, dodging, blocking, and various kung fu techniques to experience dynamic combat.
The story begins about 3,000 years ago when Emperor Wu destroyed Country Jo. At the war's end, Emperor Jo immolated himself at the Star Building in Zhaoge. Before his death, Country Jo's Wizard Wen Zhong used his magic to separate Emperor Jo's vengeful spirit from the world, allowing him to return later and reclaim his throne.
Many people from different eras were swept into the same space by an inexplicable force. The intersection of parallel worlds - including the human world, Branch Brute, and Branch Ghoul - caused monsters to flow through the gap. These creatures, controlled by Wizard Wen, form a massive army operating in both the human world and hell.
The protagonist is drawn into this space and arrives at a village called Wa-dang.
The game features three protagonists with distinct abilities:
Swordsman - Balanced attributes with good speed and strength. Offers skillful combo attacks, powerful strikes, and ranged chi attacks. Suitable for beginners.
Warrior - High attack power and hit points with good physical stamina. Can permanently improve attributes through training. Disadvantages include slow speed and difficulty executing consecutive combos. Suitable for advanced players.
Heroine - Very fast and dexterous, making her difficult to hit while allowing accurate attacks. Capable of combo attacks and powerful leg techniques. Can disable enemies by destroying their limbs and is the only character with supporting skills. Disadvantages include weak attack power, short range, and low hit points. Suitable for intermediate players.
