August 4 Releases: Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation Leads the Day
A new action RPG and a co-op walker from the Untitled Goose Game team anchor a varied lineup
A solid mix today. Game Freak steps outside its usual lane with Beast of Reincarnation, and House House follows up its breakout hit with a co-op adventure. Add a roguelite, a dark fantasy dungeon crawler, and a flight sim, and there's something here for a few different crowds.
Beast of Reincarnation#
Game Freak's brand-new title is an action RPG that blends real-time and turn-based combat. Billed as a "one-person, one-dog action RPG," it follows Emma and her companion Koo through a beautiful but harsh world. It lands today on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Seeing Game Freak build something this far removed from its best-known work is reason enough to keep an eye on it.
Big Walk#
The creators of Untitled Goose Game are back with a cooperative online walker-talker. The pitch is simple: hang out and get lost in a big world with close friends. It's a platform, puzzle, and adventure indie arriving on Switch 2, PS5, and PC. If House House's knack for playful design carries over, this could be an easy pick for a group session.
HellSlave II: Judgment of the Archon#
Ars Goetia returns with a dark fantasy dungeon crawler RPG that leans into turn-based strategy. The Archon descends to end the demon war, and the studio promises a more immersive, brutal, and customizable experience than before. PC only.
Bloodmoon Survivors#
A horde survival roguelite from solo developer Nicholas Evelson. You play a Lunar Knight of the blood moon, gaining experience, growing stronger, and synergizing weapons to survive the night against moon-conjured horrors. Out on PC.
Korea: IL-2 Series#
1C Game Studios brings its IL-2 flight-sim pedigree to the Korean War. Climb into early jet fighters and fight through legendary aerial battles in this next-generation simulator, releasing on PC.
