Rockstar Confirms GTA VI Pre-Orders Open June 25
Rockstar Games has finally given fans a date to circle. In a post on X on June 18, the studio confirmed that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25, 2026, across digital storefronts and at select retailers.
It's the concrete pre-order news the community has been waiting on for more than two years, and it lands roughly five months ahead of the game's confirmed launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What Rockstar Actually Said#
The message was characteristically brief. Rockstar stated that pre-orders go live June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers, and pointed players to the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, where they can add GTA VI to their wishlist now to be alerted the moment pre-orders open. The studio paired the date with the reveal of the official box art, the first new promotional artwork to accompany a hard logistical milestone rather than a story or character drop.
Notably, Rockstar's own announcement focused on the date and the artwork. It did not, in its official wording, commit to revealing pricing or edition tiers on June 25, though pre-order day is the natural moment for those details to surface, and several outlets expect pricing to be confirmed when storefronts go live.
The End of a Long Wait#
Grand Theft Auto VI was first revealed in December 2023, and the stretch since has been defined by tightly controlled marketing and long silences between updates. Rockstar released a second trailer in 2025 and has steadily rolled out character profiles and screenshots, but it had stayed quiet on the practical question of when players could actually reserve a copy. That silence fueled a steady churn of retailer leaks, placeholder listings, and community speculation, including rumors of a possible delay that never materialized.
The pre-order date also fits the timeline Take-Two Interactive signaled earlier this year, when he indicated Rockstar's marketing campaign would ramp up around the start of summer. A late-June pre-order launch slots neatly into that window and suggests the company is moving into the final stretch of its pre-launch campaign.
What We Still Don't Know#
The big outstanding question is price. Rockstar has not officially confirmed a figure for the standard edition. Industry chatter has pointed to a $70–$80 range for the standard edition, in line with current AAA norms, with the possibility of pricier collector's or special editions. None of that is official until Rockstar says so, which makes June 25 the date to watch for confirmation.
There's also no word yet on a PC version. The November 19 launch covers PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Based on Rockstar's history with GTA V, which reached PC well after its console debut, most observers expect a PC release at a later date that has not been announced.

The Setting#
GTA VI returns to Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, a modern-day reimagining of Florida, and centers on dual protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos (the series' first playable female lead in a mainline entry) caught in a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state.
For now, the move is simple for anyone determined to lock in a copy: wishlist the game on PlayStation or Xbox, and be ready when pre-orders open June 25.
