Sony Shuts Down Bluepoint Games Without Releasing a Single Title
Acclaimed remake studio closed after five years under PlayStation ownership
20 February 2026
Studio Closure Comes After Years of Silence
Sony has shut down Bluepoint Games, the acclaimed studio responsible for the Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls remakes, according to Push Square. The closure is particularly notable because Bluepoint did not release a single game following its acquisition by Sony in 2021.
The shutdown has sparked renewed frustration among Bloodborne fans, especially after developer Maxime Foulquier revealed he received a cease-and-desist letter from Sony's IP lawyers regarding his fan-made Bloodborne project. Foulquier had been working on a top-down Bloodborne remake, which he started in November 2024.

Legal Action Against Fan Projects
Foulquier shared the news in February 2026, stating: "Sony sent me a cease and desist letter regarding my second Bloodborne remake project that I posted about in November 2024. I was incredibly excited about this project and worked on it a lot..."
The developer had previously worked on a different Bloodborne remake but abandoned it a year earlier, explaining: "I haven't touched Bloodborne Remake for a year for 50 reasons (too big, too risky to finally be C&D). But last week I decided to start a new project from scratch, Bloodborne Top Down Arena."
What This Means for Bloodborne
Foulquier speculated that Sony's legal action could indicate an official Bloodborne remake is in development, though this remains unconfirmed. The timing of Bluepoint's closure alongside aggressive protection of the Bloodborne IP has left fans wondering what Sony's plans are for the beloved FromSoftware title.
Do you think Sony is preparing an official Bloodborne remake, or is this just another case of IP protection? Share your thoughts with the community.
