13Z brings a Chinese-mythology roguelike to Summer Game Fest 2026
Mixed Realms' hack-and-slash sends animal spirits into the Zodiac Trials, solo or in 2-4 player co-op.
13Z: The Zodiac Trials is a promising new roguelike hack-and-slash from Singapore studio Mixed Realms Pte Ltd. The game was revealed and showcased on Summer Game Fest 2026.
It draws heavily from Chinese/Eastern mythology. Players take on the role of animal spirits competing in the celestial Zodiac Trials, fighting to claim the vacant thirteenth seat at the Zodiac table.
Core Gameplay#
The game emphasizes fast, stylish hack-and-slash combat with strong character variety. Playable animal spirits follow distinct playstyles. Examples include:
Lyra the Fox: a close-range swordfighter focused on quick melee combos.
Sylith the Raven: a ranged assassin emphasizing area-of-effect pressure.
Runs feature procedurally varied levels, an anime-inspired art style, and deep build-crafting for high replayability.
Co-op Focus#
A standout feature is online co-op for 2–4 players. Teaming up does not simply increase power. It introduces tougher enemies, stronger bosses, and moral choices that test teamwork. Solo play remains focused on precision and personal mastery.
Release Details#
13Z: The Zodiac Trials is currently in development for PC via Steam. It targets a Q4 2026 launch window. A demo has been available during previous playtests, and the game has already received recognition, including the IGF "WINGS" award.
